Prof. Dai Changzheng

Professor and Dean of the School of International Relations

 

Prof. Dai is one of China’s leading scholars in Political Science. He is a member of China’s Political Science Association and of the Chinese Public Administration Society. Prof. Dai is also an executive member of the Association of National Colleges of International Politics and of China Association of Policy Science. He has been elected as the deputy president of China Economic and Diplomatic Research Association and is an executive member of the China Institute of International Relations.  Prof. Dai holds a seat in the Committee of Experts of the National International Institute of Administrative Sciences.

 

Prof. Dai studied Political Science and earned his Master and Doctoral degrees at Renmin University of China. He started his academic career in Anhui, where he soon raised to prominence as a backbone professor and distinguished academic; he has been awarded numerous distinctions for the excellence of his research and teaching by higher educational institutions at provincial and ministerial level. Prof. Dai joined the precursor of SIR, UIBE’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences since 2006, and has guided its institutional and academic development ever since. 

 

Dean Dai Changzheng has published 4 monographs, in both Chinese and English. Some of his major works have been translated into foreign languages and have been published abroad. He has led several major national-level research projects and has been invited to join several international research projects, on a broad range of topics, from international to national level floating population or institutional change and good governance reform. Prof. Dai published over 70 academic articles in Chinese national and foreign academic journals. More than a dozen of his articles have been selected for republication by authoritative journals, such as Xinhua Digest, Political Science, International Politics, Politics of China, Public Administration, Theories of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, International Communism Movement, Contemporary History of China and Communist Party of China (issued by Renmin University of China Press). Prof. Dai’s works have been widely referred and cited, drawing significant attention from the world’s academia.

 

Provided his extensive expertise and long standing experience in the fields of Politics and Administration, he is often invited to lecture abroad and conduct joint researches at reputed universities in the United States, Europe and Far East. He has conducted a joint research project at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Governance in the United States and been a key speaker at the 52nd Annual Conference of American Association for Chinese Studies. Prof. Dai has been invited to lecture on the administrative reform in China at the 64th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Public Administration in Washington DC. A post-doctoral fellow at the School of Public Administration of Seoul National University, Prof. Dai has been invited to deliver key note speeches and lectures on a wide range of topics related to transparency, governance transition and anti-corruption institutional reform at top Korean universities. His monograph, “Government Reform, Public Participation and Governance Transition in China” has been published at the prestigious Bumhak Press in Seoul.

 

A seasoned scholar with a broad range of interests and expertise, Prof. Dai lectured in Europe on the core political readings of Confucius, Plato and Aristotle and in the Middle East on the issue of globalization and current institutional trends in the Chinese public administration. 

 

Prof. Dai’s current research interests cover a broad array of topics, ranging from Political Theory, Chinese Politics, Comparative Politics to Globalization and International Economic Relations.

 

Prof. Dai teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate programs at SIR. His courses range from Undergraduate-level Introduction to Political Science and Political Science Theories to Doctoral level International Political Economy. He remains an emblematic figure for the Chinese academia, inspiring hundreds of students through his teaching, research and developmental vision.
