May Youssef, Masters’ candidate, Egypt

May Youssef comes from Egypt and has dedicated her past years to the academic study of Asia. After graduating her BA in South East Asian Humanities with a concentration on Chinese studies at Suez Canal University in 2012, May took an advanced course on Chinese studies at the American University in Cairo.

She is a member of the UNICEF and has been part of the Youth Advisory Panel of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Egypt Chapter. May acted as a representative of the Mediterranean countries in the EU Youth Parliament Assembly in Greece, 2009.

She decided to pursue her Master studies in International Relations at UIBE to better understand the newly assumed role of China as a major power and the intricacies of East and South East Asian regional politics. May Youssef is planning to pursue a career at the United Nations Security Council.
