The Department of Political Science is the oldest in SIR, established in January 2006, as part of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. In January 2010, following an overall institutional reorganization, it became the Department of Political Science. The Department is in charge with the main courses of the Political Science and Public Administration Major, holding both graduate and postgraduate courses in Political Science Theory, Comparative Political Science, International Relations and Foreign Affairs. The department conducts extensive research, publishing monographs, textbooks and academic articles. Political identity, political participation, contemporary Chinese political development, the history of Western political thought and comparative political economy are among its key research areas.
