The School of Humanities and Social Sciences (UIBE) is established. The School consists of four departments: Political Science, International Politics, Philosophy and Sociology, History and Culture

Five additional research institutes are established: International Energy and Environment Research Center, International Migration and National Security Studies Center, Globalization and Foreign Strategic Studies Center, Localization of Marxism Studies Center and Contemporary Political Development Research Center

The School opens its courses for the first batch of undergraduate students in International Politics. The programme includes both Chinese and international students.

Following the success of the previous programme, the enrollment process is expanded.

2010.1

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences is renamed as the School of International Relations (SIR).

The new institutional layout comprises four departments (Political Science, International Politics, International Political Economy and Diplomacy) and six research institutes (International Energy and Environment Research Center, Center for Economic Diplomacy, International Migration and National Security Studies Center, Soft Power and National Strategy Research Center, Contemporary Political Development Research Center and Big Data Analysis and International Relations Center, with the latest being added in 2015)

The field of Political Scienceis granted “Key Developing Discipline” status within UIBE.

The Department of Economic Diplomacy in International Politics is established. The admission process is immediately opened and students are enrolled within the same year

UIBE – SIR is granted the approval to conduct postgraduate courses by the Ministry of National Education, including eightsecondary disciplines (Political Science Theory, Comparative Political Science, International Relations, International Politics, Diplomacy, Science and Social Affairs, International Political Economy and the History of the Communist Party of China).

The Department of Public Diplomacy in International Politics is established. The admission process is immediately opened and students are enrolled within the same year.

Primary discipline of Political Science becoming the “Developing Discipline” of UIBE

2012.9

UIBE - SIRopens its first master programme, offering four specializations (Political Science Theory, Comparative Political Science, International Relations and Diplomacy). The programme includes both Chinese and international students.

The field of International Political Economy is granted “Key Discipline” status within UIBE.

The field of International Relations is granted“Key Developing Discipline” status within UIBE.

UIBE SIR enrolls its first batch of undergraduate studentsmajoring in Political Science ( with a specialization in Comparative Politics).

2017.12

UIBE SIR is awarded a B-class honour, following the assessment conducted by the Ministry of Education. The honour is on par withreputed Chinese schools in the field, such as Wuhan University and Zhongshan University.

2018.3

UIBE SIR is grantedthe approval to conduct doctoral courses by the Ministry of National Education. School’s doctoral programme allows specializations in seven disciplines (Political Science Theory, Comparative Politics, International Relations, International Politics, Diplomacy, Science and Social Affairs and the History of the Communist Party of China) and consists of fourmajors( Political Science Theory, Comparative Political Science, International Relations, Diplomacy). The first batch of doctoral candidates is expected to be enrolled in 2019.

2018   UIBE SIR has been awarded the National Teaching Award (2nd position in China) by the Chinese Ministry of National Education.
